Bart and Kathleen Astor Endowed Creative Writing Award
This $1,000 award is given every year to an undergraduate student (typically, but not always, a sophomore) heavily affiliated with the Creative Writing program who demonstrates creativity, care, and potential - not necessarily someone who has the highest grades or who has come up with the most polished accomplishment. The award is used to support overall student enrichment, including, but not limited to, undergraduate student tuition, fees, living expenses, travel to writing conferences, student research, student internships, and publishing projects. Eligibility
- Recipient of the award must be an undergraduate student heavily affiliated with the Creative Writing program.
- The student must be eligible for need-based financial aid.
Process
- Each year, students will receive a call for applications via email.
- Eligible students will then submit a resume, personal statement, and writing sample, to be reviewed by the director of the Creative Writing program, if they wish to be considered for the award.
